Flautist Melissa Doecke studied at the University of Queensland and Canberra School of music in her native Australia before undertaking postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Michael Cox.
During her time at the Academy Melissa won amongst others the Flute Competition, the RAM Club prize, The Harold Craxton Chamber Music Prize and the Jo Weinberg Flute Award.
Alongside duo partner Paul Skinner she played widely under the Live Music Now scheme and her chamber music performances include those with The Ossian Ensemble, The Park Lane Group and notably in the UK premier of Jonathan Harvey’s Run Before Lightning in the Royal Albert Hall at the 2006 BBC Proms.
Melissa has appeared as concerto soloist with orchestras as diverse as the Melbourne Sinfonietta and Bahrain Festival Orchestra.
Future engagements include her debut recital in the prestigious Manchester Midday Recital Series.
